The Thing (1982) - The film about a strange creature with a form that can change in the remote research station of Antarctica is an absolute (blog post) masterclass in suspense and realistic effects. The direction of John Carpenter is masterful, and the actors in The cast, particularly Kurt Russell, are all amazing.
